Saying goodbye to Emmanuel.

We went to sleep at my house again. I woke him up early so we could go to the Friday morning swim. When we got there it was very cold. After we went in we got some doughnuts and left for the airport and before i knew it, it was time for Emmanuel to leave. Before he left I gave him some thing he could remember Santa Barbara by. I gave him a UCSB sweatshirt with the players from Ghana signatures. I said goodbye and before I knew it he was gone. He said two things before he went, thanks and I wish I could stay longer.

I told him I had one more thing to show him. First I showed him around UCSB. Then we got tickets for the soccer game. When we got inside there were already a lot of people. We took our seats and watched the game. During the game I told him that some of the people on the team were from Ghana. After the game we got the chance to say hi to some of the players from Ghana.

                               

Emmanuel's visit day two Botanic Garden.

I told Emmanuel that there was one more place I wanted to show him. After a lot of traffic we finally got to Botanic Garden. I showed him all the different plants. We sat down on a bench, surrounded by plants. It was very peaceful. As we were sitting there I felt one rain drop. I did not feel any more for a while. Then suddenly it started to pour. Every one else there left or went inside. Emmanuel said it felt like we were the only people in the world. We just sat there and listened to the sound of nothing. When it stopped raining every thing and a shimmer to it. The leave and drops of rain it was very pretty. He said he loved the smell outside right after it rained.

After lunch I told him I had some one I wanted him to meet. I took him up A.P.S. Before we went into my school. I stopped to show him the view from my school. At first he did not say any thing but then he told me I was lucky to get to see this view every time I'm at school. I took him to meet my teacher John S. B. I told Emmanuel that this was the teacher that first showed me about him.

After breakfast we went to the zoo. I knew that today was a day we could touch a hawk so I said we should to the hawk cage first. We finally got to the front of the line and got to gently stroke the back and head of the hawk. Afterwards I got him a churro. Emmanuel told me later that in Ghana they didn’t touch a lot animals.

Since I had a guest room and we were both very sleepy we went to sleep at my house. In the morning I made him pancakes and bacon. When he woke up he raced to the kitchen still in his boxers. The first thing he said was “what is that great smell?”

After the sunset I took Emmanuel to Fresco's cafe  I got the Caesar salad. Emmanuel got the same thing that I got. I could just see on his face how much he loved the Caesar salad. I don’t think I have ever seen some one love a salad so much. He liked it because it was crunchy.

Today Emmanuel is coming to Santa Barbara I couldn’t wait to show him a sunset on the beach. We were sitting on the beach and it was one of the prettiest sunsets I have ever seen. It made it so much more special to be there at the beach with Emmanuel. He said he loves the sound of the wave crashing on the shore.
